Iron Creek Lake is located in an untouched area of the pristine Black Hills west of scenic Spearfish Canyon. While it is off the beaten tourism path, a trip to the lake is just a 20-minute excursion south of Spearfish on a well-maintained gravel road. The lake was created through a WPA project to create jobs in the mid 1930s and to provide a recreation site in Lawrence County. The trail circling the lake is just about one mile in length, making the lake small enough to prohibit wakes and high-speed watercraft. The atmosphere is quiet and oriented towards families. While rally-goers are always welcome, before making reservations please consider that getting to the lake involves traveling 12 miles on a well-maintained gravel road, and we do not have showers. But the scenery and the atmosphere are well worth the trip!
Come for the Day and Enjoy the Beach and the Water!
